RIGHT NOW
In collaboration with Copenhagen Health Innovation we have worked on optimizing and reorganizing the existing visual presentation of the employees at the cancer department of Herlev Hospital. Currently the informations are spread across several boards and each department created a slightly diffrent analog board. Our challenge was therefore to create a modular system that could be used across all clinics whilst still being flexible to be modified to each departments and daily needs. We condensed our focus into this problem formulation:
How can we create a flexible Visual Presentation of the employee that gives a clear structure and a welcoming overview to everyone using the cancer department at Herlev Hospital?
Through different exercises including mapping out stakeholders, lotus blossom and interviews we started to understand the complexity of the task and constantly came up with new questions. Therefore, we used our stakeholders and visited the hospital several times to get the informations we needed, by collecting, organizing and categorizing the information.
THE SOLUTIONThe complete design solution consists of three components.
The first component is an app, once all the staff is listed with name, title and photo the secretary can set up the daily plan through a view easy steps.
The second component is the Tablet the App is installed at. It is placed on a central place at the secretarys office and allows also nurses to quickly fill in delays or changes in the schedule.
And the third component is a screen on the wall in the waiting room. The finished Plan appears automatically on the Screen and creates a structured overview by combining the the currently present three different information boards.
WORKSHOP
AND PROCESS
We did a workshop with some of the nurses from the cancerdepartment at Herlev Hospital to really understanding first of all what the information board should consist of – and how they used it. Before the actual workshop we planned the workshop from step to step with help from prototyping and sketching and comparing the exsiting visual presentation boards to find all the differences.
(01) The process of sketching and planning the workshop.
(02) Prototype of the workshop to figure out the different categories.
(04) The output of the workshop. One of the nurses exsample of her “needs” for visual presentation. (03) Foto from the workshop with to nurses.
